Dharur: Continuing the tradition of nurturing the soil and creating an eco-system that does not disturb the environment, the authorities of Telangana Cultural Centre, an annexe of Our Sacred Space, planted saplings at the centre here on Friday.

Nayantara Nandakumar, founder of Our Sacred Space, said: “The centre is spread over 24 acres and this is a momentous occasion as we have now started plantation on another area of the property. We have been successful in planting trees at the office and recreation centre. Now, we are extending it the whole property which in time would become fully green.” P Raghuveer, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests, Telangana, who was the chief guest, said: “Telangana Cultural Centre is not only conserving the area and promoting culture but is also providing employment to people. The greening of the area is important and Our Sacred Space is playing a major role.”

It may be noted that the centre has adopted permaculture principles and has prepared a system to retain ground water and has protected the soil through various traditional measures. Last year, hundreds of trees were planted to stop soil erosion. The centre boasts of Boababs, Nagalingam, beggar-Bowl and several unique trees. Several fruit bearing trees too have been planted.
