Ameerpet: The state government has taken up white topping of roads project prestigiously, but works are moving on at a snail’s pace. The white topping of proposed road undergoing with Australia’s imported equipment is getting delayed causing traffic snarls and water-logging during rains. It is evident that government departments concerned are not acting in coordination, leaving traffic issues underdressed.

As a result, commuters are facing a tough time traveling on Ameerpet-Balkampet stretch with the construction works there becoming a stumbling block for movement. White topping road works has been taken up in four phases from Fate Nagar flyover to Kanakadurga temple at Ameerpet. As part of the third phase, construction works are going on from SR Nagar police station to Sathyam theatre. Works are still pending, even though the last date for traffic restrictions ended on January 23. Local businessmen are vexed due to dust and sound caused by the works.

Vehicles coming from Begumpet are getting delayed by about 15-20 minutes near Gurudwara and commuters from Umesh Chandra statue are swelling on the national highway. Barricades arranged for traffic diversion during construction are not removed yet. All this is resulting in a great trouble for the commuters to travel by.

SR Nagar, DK Road witness heavy traffic at busy hours with more schools located in there. It is learned that it takes up to 25 minutes to pass through that area during evening. Citizens urge the officials to take immediate steps to curtail traffic problems. When contacted the concerned official said that it would take one more month to conclude the works and people have to cooperate with them until then. Sathyanarayana, DE, HRDCL, said that he was on leave and once he joins the duty he would review the works. He assured that they would try to complete the white topping works on time.
