Black spots on highways eclipse road safety
The Road Safety Authority of Telangana State on Thursday decided to take up corrective measures in association with all the stakeholders to prevent accidents at identified black spots in the State.Director General of Road Safety Authority T Krishna Prasad held a meeting with senior officials of the Departments of Roads and Buildings, Highways and Transport to discuss the future course of action.
There were 324 black spots on the state and national highways in the state which account for 10 per cent of total road accidents and 15 per cent of total accidental deaths

There were 324 black spots on the state and national highways in the state which account for 10 per cent of total road accidents and 15 per cent of total accidental deaths.Keeping this in view, it was decided at the meeting that the
black spots, hospitals and educational institutions located near the spots be mapped using GIS. It was also decided to conductperiodical joint inspections of the black spots to plan and execute corrective measures.
The meeting also decided to develop a special app and put in place a call centre to track and monitor the movement of the accident victims to the hospitals and their condition.The road safety authority chief said non-governmental organisations would be invited to participate in the endeavour to ensure that accident victims are rushed to hospitals.
