APSRTC ready to cut services to Telangana
Senior officials of APSRTC and TSRTC will be holding crucial talks on May 22 and 23 over the dispute on inter-state agreement between the both corporations. As APSRTC rejected to enter into inter-state agreement, officials of both corporations are eagerly waiting for the response of TSRTC in the meeting next week in Hyderabad.
Vijayawada: Senior officials of APSRTC and TSRTC will be holding crucial talks on May 22 and 23 over the dispute on inter-state agreement between the both corporations. As APSRTC rejected to enter into inter-state agreement, officials of both corporations are eagerly waiting for the response of TSRTC in the meeting next week in Hyderabad.

According to senior officials, APSRTC is going to propose to its counterpart that it will reduce services to ensure that services of both corporations will reach equal number by 2019 on condition that the TSRTC will not persist for inter-state agreement.
“We will propose to our TS counterparts that APSRTC will cut some bus services it is operating in TS from June 2017 and they can replace the services.
If this is followed services of both corporations will be equal by 2019 and dispute on permits for APSRTC will also be solved,” a senior official told The Hans India on condition of anonymity.APSRTC is ready to cut bus services to destinations like Vemulawada, Hanamkonda and other places from Kurnool, Tadipatri, Nandyala and other depots.
“The need to run buses to regions other than Hyderabad has been gradually decreasing. So it is not profitable for APSRTC to run buses to these destinations,” he added.However, the exercise will impact finances of APSRTC to some extent. Interestingly around 100 permits of TSRTC and 300 permits of APSRTC have already invalidated and both the corporations are running buses without permits.
Inter-state agreement has become a contentious issue between the two corporations. TSRTC is arguing that there is no clarity in AP Reorganisation Act -2013 on continuing route permits to APSRTC to run its buses to Hyderabad and other regions in Telangana till 2019.
However, APSRTC contend that it has permit till 2019. Besides, both the corporations should come to an understanding on number of kilometres they would operate their services in their neighbouring states before they enter into agreement.
