Warangal: A young classical dancer from Hanamkonda, Margam Vyshnavi, has excelled at ‘Kuchipudi Fest’ held in Kozhikode district of Kerala State. The fest titled ‘Ritu-17’ was held at Vatakara of Kozhikode recently to promote connoisseurship of traditional forms of performing arts. Vyshnavi, who is studying eighth standard in Warangal Public School here, has emerged the talent hunt winner at the fest.
She presented ‘Ananda Tandavam’ (The dance of pleasure), as an opening performance at the event and enthralled the audience. She is one among the two artists invited from Telangana to perform at the event; another one is a classical dancer from Hyderabad, Amarjith Shill.
Vyshnavi has been learning Kuchipudi from renowned classical dance master B Sudheer Rao for the past five years. She has been selected for Centre for Cultural Resources and Training (CCRT) scholarship under Union Ministry of Culture’s Cultural Talent Search Scholarship Scheme that aims providing facilities to outstanding young children to develop their talents. In 2016 she won the prestigious ‘Bala Ratna’ award given by the State government in recognition of her dancing prowess, informed the girl’s father Margam Mallikarun, an LIC development officer here.
Renowned and celebrated classical dancers, Rachana Narayanankutty, Sonu Satheeshkumar, Prateeksha Kashi, Maalyada Anand and Aswini Nambiar have also performed at Ritu-17. They presented ‘Pancha Deviyam’ celebrating power of five goddesses Saraswati Devi, Lakshmi Devi, Gayatri Devi, Parvati Devi and Savitri Devi and it is choreographed by Prof Vasanth Krishan.
Vempati Ravishanker, the son and disciple of late Vempati Chinna Satyam conducted a workshop on Kuchipudi dance expounding the participants with intricacies of the dance form. Rotary Club past governor K Indrasena Reddy and others congratulated the child.
