Hanamkonda: The Warangal Commissionerate on Wednesday arrested a gang of six robbers and recovered loot worth around Rs 13.50 lakh from them.

Speaking to the media persons, the Commissioner of Police G Sudheer Babu revealed that the CCS Police had made a significant breakthrough by nabbing the gang which is involved in several crimes. The CP said that the gang used to threaten women in isolated places with knives and then rob them of their valuables such as gold.

The arrested were identified as Md. Biyabani, Sheikh Younis, Md. Saleem alias Majid, Md. Aleemuddin, Md. Muktiyad and Md. Yakub Pasha. All the six members hail from Shambhunipet village in Warangal Urban district.

Except for Biyabani, who is in his early 30s, all others are aged below 25 years. In all, the gang was involved in 10 robberies, of which five in Hasanparthy, two each in Hanamkonda and Atmakur, and one in Matwada police station limits. Apart from gold jewellery weighing around 320 grams, the police also seized three two-wheelers and an auto-rickshaw.

The police said that Biyabani, who ran a meat shop in the past, resorted to criminal activity first time in 2013 to lead a luxurious life. He was also involved in a murder. The gang is also involved in several chain-snatching cases. The CP said that he will soon have an interactive session with the people of Shambhunipet, besides taking up reformative measures in the village.

He commended the CCS ACP Pooja, Inspector David Raju, Sub-inspector Subramanyeshwar Rao, ASI Sanjeeva Reddy, Head Constable Srinivasa Raju, Constables SK Mohammad Ali, Ravi Kumar and Jampaiah for apprehending the gang.
