Hanamkonda: Walkers Associations would help to foster human relations, which were dwindling in the society in recent times, opined Kakatiya University Registrar Prof MV Ranga Rao.

He said walking is the easiest and comfortable exercise, which could be practiced by all. It is laudable that the walkers associations in the tri-cities have been actively engaged in promoting awareness on fitness and also to maintaining cordial relations with each other.

Prof Ranga Rao has on Tuesday kick started the Tri-cities Walkers Association’s six-day sports meet being organised for its members marking the Telngana Formation Day celebrations. He later addressed the walkers at KU Grounds.

He told the walkers associations to engage themselves in social service activities. He expressed pleasure that KU campus has been serving the walkers’ needs and assured that the university would extend its support for the future activities of the association.

KU Sports Board secretary Gade Pani felt that it has become essential for every person to take some or the other kind of physical exercise to beat the stress and health issues caused by modern life style. The association should take extensive campaign to promote walking, he added.

About 800 sports persons from 80 teams and 20 associations in Warangal, Hanamkonda and Kazipet are participating in the sports meet.
