Karimnagar: District Collector Sarfaraz Ahmed directed the officials to speed up the works for planting one lakh saplings in a single day as part of third phase of Haritha Haram programme.

On Tuesday, he along with Municipal Commissioner Shashank inspected suitable areas at LMD bund, Chintakunta, Satavahana University, Rekarthi, Sitharampur, railway station, Kisannagar and Markfed areas for planting saplings.

Speaking on the occasion, the Collector ordered the officials concerned to remove weeds and unwanted plants grown in government lands and prepare soil for planting saplings along with digging the pits.

“The Markfed area present at the heart of the city has enough space for growing plants in large numbers. Make special arrangements for growing fruit yielding plants in Markfed area along with taking necessary steps for planting saplings on the sides of drains,” he suggested.

Collector Sarfaraz told the officials to identify the distributing centres before starting Haritha Haram programme in the district at various locations for distributing saplings of different varieties depending on the requirements of that particular area along with taking steps for distributing flower yielding plants for household purpose.

Haritha Haram special drive Officer Anjaneyulu and Karimnagar Urban Tahsildar Sugunakar Reddy were also present along with others.
