Jagtial: The lottery system for sanctioning liquor shops concluded peacefully in the district on Friday, informed District Collector Dr A Sharath.

He participated in the lottery system held at Vasavi Kalyana Mandapam in Jagtial. Speaking on the occasion, the Collector said, in response to the government notification issued recently, as many as 1,047 applications were received for establishing about 64 liquor shops in the district.

To prevent any untoward incidents, the applicants were selected through lottery system, held from 11 am to 1 pm, he explained.

The lottery system was held with transparency and in peaceful atmosphere without giving scope to irregularities in the presence of applicants under the supervision of excise and police officials.

District Superintendent of Police Anantha Sharma, in-charge Joint-Collector Mushraf Farooqi, Excise Superintendent Sridhar, District Revenue Officer T Shyam Prakash, Jagtial Rural Development Officer Dr G Narendar, Divisional Superintendent of Police Karunakar and abkari police officials were present along with others.
