Farmers urged to apply for Rythu Bima
Agriculture Minister Pocharam Srinivas Reddy urged farmers to fill up the nomination forms of Rythu Bima Scheme, which will be launched on August 15 by the State government, and submit the forms to the government by end of June month.

Along with Finance Minister Eatala Rajendar and State Farmers Coordination Committee (FCC) Chairman Gutta Sukhendar Reddy, Pocharam held a review meeting with the members of FCCs and officials of agriculture department on the implementation of Rythu Bima Scheme at a private function hall in Karimnagar on Monday.
Speaking at the meeting, Minister Pocharam said Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, being a son of farmer and himself a farmer, knows very well about the problems of farmers and has been introducing various welfare schemes for the betterment of the farming sector present across the State.
The State government had introduced farmers’ investment scheme Rythu Bandhu Scheme’ and has been sanctioning Rs 8,000 per acre for each farmer per year. Also, Rythu Bima Scheme will be launched across the State on August 15, which will benefit about 50 lakh farmers. If the farmer dies either accidently or normally, his family members will get Rs 5 lakhs of insurance amount.
The government is investing Rs 11,000 crores for the implementation of Rythu Bima Scheme and paying Rs 2,271,50 as premium amount for each farmer. The cheque for Rs 5 lakhs will be handed over to the nominee, mentioned in the nomination form, within 15 days after the death of the farmer.
If any revenue official delays issuing death certificate even after 10 days of a farmer’s death, a penalty of Rs 1,000 per day will be charged from the officials. It is the responsibility of agriculture department officials to enrol all eligible farmers into the scheme and must visit every farmer’s house to take the signatures of nominee and farmer along with sending Bima proposals through District Collector to the government. The farmers in the age group of 18 to 60 years are eligible for the Bima Scheme.
Finance Minister Eatala Rajendar lauded the farmers as the wealth of the State and county, who toils in the field in all seasons to produce food for the people. The government, which strongly feels that farmers’ sorrow is not good for the country, has been trying to uplift them by introducing various welfare schemes. Other states are looking at Telangana for the schemes it had introduced for farmers’ wellbeing.
