GMRVF students get ready to fly to US
The students of GMR Varalakshmi Foundation (GMRVF), the Corporate Social Responsibility arm of GMR Group clinched the opportunity of pursuing the courses of their choice under the Community College Initiative Programme (CCIP) sponsored by the Department of State, United States of America.
Hyderabad: The students of GMR Varalakshmi Foundation (GMRVF), the Corporate Social Responsibility arm of GMR Group clinched the opportunity of pursuing the courses of their choice under the Community College Initiative Programme (CCIP) sponsored by the Department of State, United States of America.
Kaveri Avula, an alumni of GMR Varalakshmi Centre for Empowerment and Livelihoods (GMRVCEL), Hyderabad and Haseena Shaik, a 2 year student in SGCSR College, Rajam run by GMRVF were selected by the U.S. Consulate General Hyderabad to participate in the CCIP this year. These two students have left to the U.S. to pursue their programme.
Organised by the U.S. Department of State, the Community College Initiative (CCI) Programme supports deserving candidates from other countries to study at an American community college for one year. Under this program, the entire expense of the selected candidates viz.
course related expenses, airfare, lodging boarding expenses, books and medical aid are borne by the American government. Further, the candidates are paid a monthly stipend to meet other incidental expenses.
GMRVF provides the right Launchpad for students to break the barrier and live their dreams. The Foundation has been grooming the short listed candidates and providing them every support in all the stages till they have succeeded in getting the admissions.
These endeavours include orientation programmes, preparing the candidates for telephonic interview for TOEIC (Test of English for International Communication), English lab facility and also assisting in getting the mandatory medical tests for the selected candidates.
