A two- day brain- storming workshop on digital knowledge ecosystem for agribusiness exploring new extension models was inaugurated at Professor Jayashankar Telangana State Agricultural University (PJTSAU) here on Friday.
Hyderabad: A two- day brain- storming workshop on digital knowledge ecosystem for agribusiness exploring new extension models was inaugurated at Professor Jayashankar Telangana State Agricultural University (PJTSAU) here on Friday.
As part of the tripartite agreement among Australian Western Sydney University (WSU), River Bridge ventures and PJTSAU are developing the mobile app for agricultural services.
Dr V Praveen Rao, Vice-Chancellor, PJTSAU was the chief guest and gave advices to make mobile app more effectively to help farmers in the state.
The app should address the total value chain of the agriculture right from the sowing to harvesting and information related to marketing their agricultural produce says the Vice-chancellor.
The future agriculture will be a smart agriculture in terms of providing information by using ICT’s to the farmers and growing popularity of vertical and semi urban farming, he said. The app should provide knowledge for take decision by farmers on several farms related issues according to VC.
Vishnu Gorantla, Founder, River Bridge Ventures, Mumbai, gave the presentation on significance of industry academia partnership for sustainable solutions in agriculture. Prof Aula Ginige, of Western Sydney University (WSU), gave broader introduction on proposed workshop. He said that, in a present scenario society is becoming more digitally connected, need to harness the changes happening around the globe.
Dr Raji Reddy, Director of Extension, PJTSAU gave the power point presentation on current Agricultural Extension services issues and challenges in transfer technologies.
The representatives of the River bridge ventures, university Dr T Pradeep, Dr KS Dangi, Dr Sadasiva Rao, Dr Mrunalini, Dr Jamuna Rani, Dr KVS Meena Kumari, Dr Jeevan Rao, several farmers and scientists , Principal Scientists of PJTSAU, extension faculty, agriculture and horticulture department officials participated.
