Woman candidate master , last year  Asian and Commonwealth chess champion  (of U10 girls) Moogi Sahithi Varshini has brought  proud moments again  for our  country by winning  six international medals ( five  gold medals plus a bronze medal in Rapid, Classical and Blitz formats respectively in the individual and team events) in  the Asian Chess Championship – 2018 Asian Youth Chunder- 12 category.

Visakhapatnam: Woman candidate master , last year Asian and Commonwealth chess champion (of U10 girls) Moogi Sahithi Varshini has brought proud moments again for our country by winning six international medals ( five gold medals plus a bronze medal in Rapid, Classical and Blitz formats respectively in the individual and team events) in the Asian Chess Championship – 2018 under- 12 category.

Accompanied by her father-cum-coach M. Lokeswara Rao, Sahithi Varshini took part in the 10 day-long event that concluded at Chiang Mai in Thailand on Tuesday. Sahithi now is eligible for the Woman FIDE Master title, now that she had bagged a gold medal in the Classical format of the tournament.

In rapid format, Sahithi scored 7 points (undefeated) out of 7 points. She earned 7 points in both classical and blitz events from a maximum of 9. After initial rounds of loss in the classical format, Sahithi scored over Nguyen Le Cam Hien from Vietnam to emerge champion in the last round.

With these latest achievements Sahithi has registered nine international medals in her kitty. Her other major achievements include winning of three international gold medals in the last year (2017) wherein she won two gold medals in Asian champion for the year in classical and blitz format held in Uzbekistan and a gold medal in Commonwealth Championship as well.
