Telangana Govt service no longer mandatory for medicos
It’s good news for medical students in Telangana as the State government on Saturday issued orders removing the mandatory government service for a period of one year, for the MBBS and BDS graduates.
Hyderabad: It’s good news for medical students in Telangana as the State government on Saturday issued orders removing the mandatory government service for a period of one year, for the MBBS and BDS graduates.
According to the Government Order issued on Saturday, Principal Secretary (Medical and Health department) Rajeswar Tiwari said that the medical graduates were exempted from the purview of “compulsory government service” which was essential for registration with the Telangana State Medical Council.
The Telangana Junior Doctors Association (TJDA) had been demanding the removal of compulsory government service at the MBBS level since the formation of Telangana. It may be mentioned here that the then undivided AP Government had brought the A.P. Medical Practitioners Registration Act, 2013 duly amending the A.P. Medical Practitioners Registration Act, 1968, making it mandatory for the candidates (MBBS/ PG (Degree or Diploma)/ Super Specialty) to complete the compulsory government Service for a period of (01) year, before getting registered with A.P. Medical Council.
Consequent to bringing the Act into force, the erstwhile Government had issued ‘Andhra Pradesh Medical Council (Compulsory Rural Medical Service) and Compulsory Government Service, Renewal of Registration, Visiting or Inspecting the Hospitals or Nursing Home or Institution) Rules, 2013’.
