Khammam: The State-level children's festival, Balotsav, has begun in the temple town on Friday. Integrated Tribal Development Agency (ITDA) Project Officer VP Gowtham inaugurated the event by lighting a lamp at the Junior College Grounds.

Over 3,200 students from 156 schools from Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Telangana are going to take part in various events to be held in a span of three days.

Speaking on the occasion, the ITDA Project Officer said such a festival would bring out the hidden talents in students and added that students should not worry about winning or losing as the participation was all that matters.

Bhadrachalam MLA Podem Veeraiah appreciated the organisers for conducting the children's festival for the last four years and stated that such events help the students nurture their talents.

Balotsav convener Talluri Panchaksharaiah said that they have been conducting such an event to encourage the students to take part in a plethora of competitions which ultimately help in their overall development.

Talluri Jayashekhar, president of Telugu Association of North America (TANA), also attended the inaugural programme.
