Three construction workers killed and five others injured after loose soil from the top fell on them while working at the bottom of the pit that ensued the workers buried under the soil.

Three construction workers killed and five others injured after loose soil from the top fell on them while working at the bottom of the pit that ensued the workers buried under the soil. The incident took place on Saturday midnight.

The police and the fire tenders rushed to the spot and rescued five workers stuck inside the 50-feet deep pit and were shifted to a hospital. The construction workers were brought from Jharkand and were involved in rod binding work inside the pit which was dug to erect a boiler for the fourth paper mill plant.

It is learned that around 12 workers are supposed to work in a shift but nine were working when the incident took place.

The deceased were identified as Raghunath Ram (38), Chotu Bahniya (25) and Ranjit (25) all from Chatarpur in Jharkhand. While the injured were identified as Mallu Ranidas, Santosh Ram, Parikhan Ram, Ram Praneet and Sanjay Ram are also from Jharkhand.

The bodies of the deceased were shifted to Sirpur(T) hospital for post-mortem.
