Hyderabad: The Telangana government, which has been grappling to bring coronavirus under control, seems to be looking for divine blessings to contain the surge in the Covid-19 cases. Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, who claims to be the biggest Hindu and had performed Chandi Yagams many times in the past, will perform Chandi and Sudarshana Yagams on Friday at Konda Pochamma temple. Around 4 am on the day, the Chief Minister, accompanied by his wife Sobha, will go to the Konda Pochamma Sagar pumphouse and will participate in the Sudarshan Yagam. Later, they will participate in the Poornahuti of the Chandi Yagam. These Yagams are being performed under the guidance of Sri Tridandi Chinna Jeeyar Swami.

It may be mentioned here that the TRS supremo had performed many Yagams between 2001 and 2014 to achieve separate state of Telangana and again in December 2015 by inviting many big personalities in the country. Later in 2019 after coming back to power for the second time, he again performed Chandi Yagam

The Chief Minister will also participate in Gangamma pujas at the reservoir. The government named the reservoir after the deity Kondapochamma. The CM wanted Konda Pochamma Sagar project too should fulfill the need for water for irrigation and drinking purposes in the dry land areas under the project.

Water from river Godavari will be lifted from various stages from Laxmi Barrage (Medigadda) and pumped into the Konda Pochamma Sagar Reservoir, which is at a height of 618 meters. From Konda Pochamma Sagar, constructed with a capacity of 15 TMC, water will be supplied to the hitherto arid lands through gravity for irrigation needs.
