Hyderabad: The CPM state unit on Monday suspended party candidate Shekhar Rao for submitting incomplete nomination papers which were rejected by the Election Commission.

The party gave ticket to him for contesting from Huzurnagar assembly constituency in bypoll.

The party State Secretary T Veerabhadram said that the CPM will support the Telangana Praja Party (TPP) candidate Sambasiva Goud as the Left party candidate was not in the fray.

The party took serious note of the rejection of the nomination submitted by Shekhar, Veerbhadram said that the contestant breached the trust.

The CPM also removed the leader from the post of district party secretary with an immediate effect. He said that CPM is maintaining considerable people's support in Huzurnagar assembly segment and the party decided not to support either ruling TRS or opposition Congress.

The party will back the TPP in the byelection to be held on October 21. All the senior leaders will also take part in the campaign, he added.
