Speakers lay stress on processing of millets in wake of growing demand for them

Rajendranagar: Understanding the importance of millets in the life style management, a three-day training and capacity building programme on millet-based products under Indian Council of Agriculture Research SC-Sub plan 2019-2020 which was started on February 18 at Professor Jayashankar Telangana State Agricultural University (PJTSAU) in Rajendranagar concluded on Thursday.

Dr J Satyanaryana, Dean, College of Agriculture, Rajendranagar, attended as the guest of honour at the inaugural session. He addressed the students about the programmes being implemented under the SC Sub plan. He motivated the students about the need and importance of skill-imposed training programmes, and also emphasised about how this training programme would be helpful for future career thoughts in establishing food-based startups.

Dr T V Hymavathi, Professor and Head of Foods and Nutrition spoke about the importance for training in millet processing in view of the rising demand for millet in the society. Dr Ratna Kumari, Associate Dean, College of Community Science, and E Jyoshna, Assistant Professor, Department of Foods and Nutrition, Post-Graduate & Research Centre, were also present on the occasion.
