Hyderabad: In a heart-wrenching incident, a coronavirus patient who is suffering from breathlessness recorded a selfie video minutes before his death and succumbed to the virus later.

Vadlakonda Ravi Kumar (34), a resident of BJR Nagar near Jawaharnagar in Hyderabad had complained of breathlessness on June 23 and his father took him to 11 corporate hospitals in the city where admission was denied. On the next day, Ravi's father took him to a private coronavirus testing lab for the tests. Before the arrival of reports, Ravi's condition worsened and he was taken to NIMS hospital where the doctors referred him to Chest Hospital.

The Chest Hospital staff admitted Ravi on June 24 around 11.30 and put him on a ventilator. However, the doctors later removed the ventilator after some time. Though Ravi complained of breathlessness and begged the staff for a ventilator, no one gave him.

Ravi who knew that he was going to die recorded a selfie video to his father around 12.30 pm. "They have removed the ventilator and have not been responding when I was asking them for the last three hours to provide oxygen support. My heart and kidney stopped have stopped and only lungs are working, but I am unable to breathe, daddy. Bye daddy. Bye all, bye daddy," he said.

The patient's father who was waiting outside the hospital rushed inside after seeing the video. However, Ravi succumbed to the virus by then. Ravi's last rites were held on June 26.
