Union minister Piyush Goyal laid the foundation stone for the satellite railway station in Cherlapally on Tuesday. The Central government has allocated Rs 221 crore for the construction of the railway station which is expected to ease the traffic.

SCR has plans to develop the railway station into a mega terminal as the Secunderabad, Kacheguda and Hyderabad railway station has reached optimum capacity.

The minister also inaugurated wifi services at 427 railway stations under South Central Railway (SCR) limits. He also inaugurated the Guntakal-Kalluru railway station and dedicated it to the nation.

Union Minister for state home affairs Kishan Reddy, Minister for animal husbandry Talasani Srinivas Yadav and others were present at the ceremony.
