Her family ran from one hospital to another, both government and private, but none admitted her and finally she died without treatment in ambulance

Hyderabad: A 55-year-old woman from Medchal district who was made to run from pillar to post by both private and government hospitals refusing admission citing lack of beds and ventilators, succumbed in an ambulance on Friday.

According to her family members, Sattemma from Dammaiguda in Medchal district went to a local hospital near her area with breathing related problems. The hospital doctors told her to take her to another hospital as she had Covid like symptoms. From there trouble began for her family. The woman was taken to a corporate hospital in Secunderabad which refused to admit her citing lack of beds. From there they went to Gandhi Hospital where her family was told that only positive patients would be admitted and were suggested to take her to King Koti Hopital. The hospital staff there said they don't have any ventilator, and gave her family a letter to be shown to Gandhi Hospital for admission.

However, security at the gate did not allow her to be taken inside. Then they returned home on Thursday night. Their neighbours got to know of their problems in finding a bed and spoke to a corporate hospital in Banjara Hills which asked them to come.

On Thursday morning her family took her there but ventilator beds were not vacant. Then she was taken to OGH where they got the same reply. Afterwards the Health department officials were informed about her case and she was told to go to King Koti Hospital again. As doctors tried to reach her and check her condition, the 55-year old woman breathed her last in the ambulance itself.
