Jangaon: The Society for Elimination of Rural Poverty (SERP) is determined to purchase 3,000 metric tonnes (MTs) of mango this season, Panchayat Raj Minister Errabelli Dayakar Rao said.
Inaugurating the IKP's purchase centre at Pedda Pahad in Jangaon district on Tuesday, he said that purchase centres at Khammam, Nagarkurnool, Siddipet, Vikarabad and Jagtial have already begun functioning.
"In all, 13 centres across the State would purchase the mango from farmers. So far, the SERP had purchased 300 MTs of mango. In addition to the mango, the authorities are also purchasing watermelon, banana, papaya etc," Errabelli said.
Chief Whip Bodakunti Venkateshwarlu, Jangaon MLA Muthireddy Yadagiri Reddy and District Collector K Nikhila were among others present.
