Nizamabad: Be aware of thieves in the guise of fundraisers

Nizamabad: An incident, where people tried to loot a housewife when she refused to give donation (chanda) for Ganesh Chaturthi festival in Nizamabad city, had created panic among the citizens.

It seems that thieves from Maharashtra are trying to earn money during the Ganesh festival. They will enter a house on the pretext of seeking donation and if possible, they will loot the people in the house.

On Wednesday night, two people went to a house in the first floor of Saikrupa Nagar Colony and asked the housewife for a donation. When she refused to give donation, they asked her water and tried to snatch her chain. The terrified woman screamed and ran into the house. Her husband became alert after hearing her screams, immediately locked the gate and stopped the duo.

One of them pushed the husband and managed to escape by jumping the gate. The husband with the help of locals tied the thief and beaten him up.In the tussle, the husband received minor injuries.

After getting information from the locals, the police enquired and identified the thieves as belonging to Maharashtra. The cops are searching in the city for the escaped thief.

The residents of Saikrupa Nagar and Vinayak Nagar colonies are terrified of the people, who comes to their houses in the name of donations for Ganesh festival.
