Ramagundam: The officials of National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) in association with Telangana State Pollution Control Board distributed clay Ganesh idols to the people in Ramagundam on Sunday.

Attending as a chief guest at the distribution programme, Enforcement Director Dr PP Kulakarni advised the people to use eco-friendly clay Ganesh idols and to avoid fancy idols made of Plaster of Paris, which will pollute the environment.

He advised the parents to encourage their children to prepare clay Ganesh idols, to educate them about the benefits of eco-friendly Ganesh idols.

TSPCB Environment Engineer K Ravidas said the purpose of the distribution of clay Ganesh idols was to create awareness among the people, especially in children on the use of clay Ganesh idols with natural colours so as to save the organisms living in water bodies and explain them the harm that would cause to the organisms with idols made with Plaster of Paris.

General Managers P K Laad, Soumendra Das and B C Polai, Swati P Kulkarin, Mamta Laad and the members of the Deepthi Mahila Samiti and employees of NTPC were present along with others.
