Police nab inter-dist thief in Karimnagar

Karimnagar: Central Crime Station (CCS) police on Thursday nabbed a person, who was allegedly involved in several theft cases in Jammikunta of Karimnagar district.

According to Assistant Commissioner of Police (CCS) Srinivas, the accused was identified as Kovvuri Rajeshwar Rao alias Suresh alias Kiran Reddy (45), resident of Chilakalaguda of Secunderabad and was involved in several theft cases in Karimnagar, Warangal and Jangaon districts from the past few months.

The Assistant Commissioner of Police said that Rajeshwar Rao used to trap innocent people with mesmerising words at railway and bus stations and near hospitals. Then he will make a fake call and pretend as if he is talking to another person on phone, asking him to meet him for solution to his/her problems as he (Rajeshwar Rao) knows black magic. Believing his words, many people lost money.

He is intelligent enough not to sold gold items took from other persons, else he will be caught and used to mortgage them at Manappuram, Muthoot and other such private financial institutions.

Based on a complaint from Kurimindla Kausalya of Peddapalli district, who lost two and half tola gold chain when she was in Jammikunta and as per the orders of Police Commissioner VB Kamalasan Reddy, Jammikunta CCS police registered a case and started manhunt.

After observing CCTV footage at Jammikunta bus station, police deployed special teams to nab Rajeshwara Rao and nabbed him when he was wandering near a hospital to trap another innocent person. Police seized 13 tolas gold and two mobiles from his possession worth Rs 4 lakhs. It came to know that as many as six cases were filed against Rajeshwar Rao in Karimnagar and Warangal districts.

Commissioner of Police VB Kamalasan Reddy appreciated Inspectors E Kiran and K Srujan Reddy, SI T Murali, constables Md Sharief, T Anjaiah and K Lakshmipathi, who cracked down the case.
