Police seize banned BT-3 cotton seeds in Asifabad

Asifabad: Bejjuru police along with agricultural department authorities have seized substandard cotton seeds at Bejjuru mandal in Komaram Bheem district on Tuesday. During the joint operation, the authorities have seized 59 bags of substandard cotton seeds worth Rs 50,000 and arrested one person.
Acting on a tip-off, the police conducted search operation in Bejjuru and arrested Rajaram, resident of Mattidi village of Bejjuru mandal, who is involved in sale and supply of banned cotton seeds.
It's learnt that the banned BT-3 seeds were transported from Kagaznagar to Mattidi village for distribution in villages.
