Hyderabad: With the Haj-2020 shelved this year for foreign pilgrims by the Saudi government due to pandemic, the TS Haj Committee announced refund of the money for this year's prospective pilgrims. Speaking to the media, Haj Committee Chairman Md Masiullah Khan said that in view of the decision taken by the Saudi government not to allow foreign pilgrims (however, those within its borders are eligible) this year in view of the corona pandemic, they have decided to refund the money as the applications for this year would be cancelled by default. "Amount already paid by the applicants for the Haj-2020 will be refunded 100 % without any deduction to their bank accounts directly by the Haj Committee of India, Mumbai, within a month," he said.

This year, 10,752 applications were received from Telangana, while the quota for the state was 4,341 and the number of Haj pilgrims allotted from Hyderabad embarkation point was approximately 8,000.

At the national level, the quota stood at 2 lakh pilgrims, out of which 40,000 was provided to private tour operators. Haj Committee Assistant Executive Officer Irfan Shareef said the passports collected by the Committee will be returned to the applicants concerned after the receipt of the same from the Haj Committee of India, Mumbai, for which, the twin cities applicants will be informed within a month.

The passports of district applicants will be returned through their Haj societies concerned or by Speed Post. Further, he said the nominees of those applicants, who expired, can submit their bank details along with the letter mentioning their names already filled in the Haj form and copy of Death Certificate, etc, to the Haj Committee of India, Mumbai in email - [email protected].
