Hyderabad: The State government has approved Land Pooling in HMDA limits and requested the landowners under Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) area to give their consent to the pooling scheme for equitable and planned development of the city.

State government had issued public notice on May 2 inviting applications from interested landowners to give their consent to participate in land pooling scheme.

Government approved Hyderabad Metropolitan Region Land Pooling rules in 2017 to promote and facilitate planned development in Hyderabad Metropolitan Region.

According to the officials, land pooling is an efficient mechanism/ tool for planned development as per master plan. This move was taken in order to promote efficient, sustainable and equitable development in urban areas.

The scheme gives an option to farmers to become partners in development process and they are not deprived of their land. The Land Pooling Scheme is regarded as one of the best readjustment techniques for planned provision of urban environment, infrastructure and supply of urban land without external investment.

The concept of land-pooling is that a group of landowners together pool their land for development purposes and join hands with HMDA which act as a facilitator.

The HMDA has proposed to take up massive Land Pooling Schemes in Hyderabad Metropolitan Region and in Phase-I two locations: Pratapsingaram (V) and Korremula village Ghatkesar mandal, Medchal – Malkajgri district 1,575 acres, Mokila village, Shankerpally village, Rangareddy district 456 acres.

The Salient Features of the Land Pooling Scheme include: Farmers would get the brand of 'developed by HMDA' and they will get increased market value compared to other lands.

The farmers would get well serviced housing plots with infrastructure like water supply, electricity, sewerage, parks, sewerage treatment plants (STPs) etc.
