Jagan has no moral right to criticise CM
Nellore: Sarvepalle MLA Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy has said that YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has no moral right to criticise Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu after his alleged role in the recent spurious liquor issue came to light in Annamayya district.
Somireddy held Jagan responsible for looting crores of public money through liquor trade during his five-year tenure as the Chief Minister.
Chandramohan Reddy addressed the media here on Sunday. He said that following a tip-off, excise police conducted raids on the spurious liquor manufacturing unit in Annamayya district and taken the accused into their custody.
He said that government is clear on its part on conducting impartial probe into the incident and the culprits involved should be behind the bars.
The MLA said that instead of appreciating the government over its move in arresting the accused, it is unfortunate YS Jagan Mohan Reddy was trying to defame Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu by alleging his role in spurious liquor trade.
Somireddy said coalition government never encouraged such illegal activities.
Somireddy alleged that during Covid-19 in 2019, former Sarvepalle and Kavali MLAs Kakani Govardhan Reddy, and Ramireddy Prathap Kumar Reddy were involved in illicit liquor trade by bringing spurious liquor from Goa, Puducherry, and Tamil Nadu. The MLA said that as many as 5 people died in Sarvepalle and some people in Kavali constituencies.
Several have turned mentally retarded following consumption of spurious liquor.
He said that police have registered 5 cases each against Kakani and Ramireddy over the incident. Somireddy questioned that if ‘Jagan’ is fair why he provided tickets to Kakan Govardhan Reddy and Ramireddy Prathapkumar Reddy continuously in 2019 and 2024 elections.
“Jagan has no moral right to criticise the coalition government as he has provided tickets to Kakani and Ramireddy who were facing charges on illicit liquor trade and carried out wholesale liquor business during his 5 year tenure,” Chandramohan Reddy said.
