Tribal people happy with quality rice: CS Commr Kona Sashidhar

Srikakulam: White ration cards will be issued in 72 hours after receiving application from 2 October, said Civil Supplies Commissioner, Kona Sashidhar. Speaking to media persons here on Tuesday, he explained that supply of quality rice to white ration card holders on pilot basis gets good response from the beneficiaries.

On a single day on 6th September, 92 percent rice bags delivered to card holders, which is a remarkable achievement of the district administration, he lauded. Rice bags will be recycled soon to avoid environment pollution and will be reused.

On the first day of implementation, only 30 bags of rice were damaged and were replaced immediately, the Commissioner said and added that Rs 500 was allotted for a cluster of 50 houses for transportation. People in tribal area are happy with supply of quality rice.

The Commissioner visited Sitampeta agency area along with District Collector J Nivas earlier in the day and had a lunch with tribes which was prepared with recently supplied quality rice.

Civil supplies Corporation Vice-Chairman and Managing Director Y Surya Kumari, Joint Collector, K Srinivasulu, DRO Balivada Dayanidhi, District Supply Officer, G Nageswara Rao and District Manager for Civil Supplies, A Krishna Rao were present.
