Road expansion works as per master plan

Rajamahendravaram: Rajamahendravaram Municipal Corporation (RMC) Commissioner V Vijaya Rama Raju has said that road expansion works are under progress in the city as per the master plan.

Encroachments were removed from Reservoir Street of Gandhipuram-4 on the 40 feet road. The issue of widening of the road was in court for many years now, and decks were cleared, he said.

Owners of sites came forward voluntarily to develop the 40 feet road. Electric poles in the road would also be shifted shortly. Road-widening works of airport road also be commenced shortly, he added.

Houses were allotted to 24 families of Chodeswar Nagar opposite to the high school at Lalachervu. The lorry stand was shifted to Aaava area located near LIC office.

Road at Muggupeta centre will also be widened after demolishing 23 shops there. As many as 17 petty shops constructed at municipal stadium were demolished and so far 155 encroachments were demolished in the city as part of road-widening, he added.
