Vijayawada: Cyclone Arnab has disrupted air connectivity from Vijayawada, with around 44 flight services connecting the city with domestic and international destinations expected to be cancelled on Wednesday (October 28), according to airport sources.
All 12 IndiGo flights scheduled to operate from Vijayawada International Airport at Gannavaram on Wednesday have been cancelled due to the cyclone’s impact. Select services operated by other airlines have also been withdrawn in view of the adverse weather conditions.
The cancellations are expected to affect passengers travelling between Vijayawada and major destinations, including Bengaluru, Chennai, Kadapa, Visakhapatnam, Tirupati, New Delhi, Varanasi and Mumbai. International services connecting Vijayawada with Singapore and Sharjah may also be affected.
Among the confirmed cancellations for Wednesday are two Fly91 services on the Hyderabad–Vijayawada–Hyderabad route, scheduled for 8.30 am and 6.05 pm. Air India’s morning service between Delhi and Vijayawada, numbered AI 1724/1851, has also been cancelled.
Meanwhile, six flight services were cancelled on Tuesday due to the cyclone’s effects. These included IndiGo services connecting Vijayawada with Kadapa, Hyderabad, Chennai and Bengaluru, along with an Air India Express service on the Visakhapatnam–Vijayawada route. The cancellations have disrupted travel plans, with passengers advised to check their flight status with the respective airlines before leaving for the airport. Travellers have also been urged to follow airline updates regarding cancellations, rescheduling and alternative arrangements as the weather situation develops.
