AP Cabinet finalises BC quota for local bodies
The AP Cabinet, meeting under the chairmanship of CM Chandrababu, took a key decision regarding reservations for local bodies. It finalized BC (Backward Classes) reservations based on the report submitted by the Rajiv Ranjan Commission.
Reservations were determined across eight categories, including Gram Panchayat ward members, Sarpanches, MPTCs, MPPs, ZPTCs, ZP Chairpersons, municipal ward members, municipal chairpersons, and mayors.
The ministers disclosed these details at a press conference held after the Cabinet meeting. It was decided to allocate BC reservations as follows: 26.73% for Panchayat ward members, 27.95% for Sarpanches, 25.55% for MPTCs, 24.60% for MPPs, 24.60% for ZPTCs, 23.08% for ZP Chairpersons, and 32.78% for urban ward members. Additionally, reservations were finalized at 32.03% for municipal chairpersons and 35.02% for mayors.
