AP govt. signs MoU with MDL for greenfield shipyard at Dugarajapatnam

A greenfield shipyard is set to be established at Dugarajapatnam in Andhra Pradesh. The government of Andhra Pradesh signed an agreement with MDL to this effect. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu witnessed the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two organizations. The project is said to be worth ₹15,000 crore and would create employment for 45,000 people. The greenfield shipyard is supposed to have an annual capacity of 1.2 million tonnes for shipbuilding.

In the meanwhile, the 21st meeting of the State Investment Promotion Board (SIPB), which was chaired by the CM Chandrababu, concluded today (Friday) at the Secretariat. During the meeting, the CM discussed investments related to a total of 29 industrial projects. The SIPB is likely to approve projects worth approximately ₹22,000 crore, which are expected to create jobs for around 20,000 people. In the 20 SIPB meetings held so far, 359 projects have been approved, attracting investments worth ₹13.84 lakh crore and creating employment opportunities for 10.59 lakh people. Ministers Nara Lokesh, TG Bharat, Anagani Satya Prasad, Vasamsetti Subhash, P. Narayana, Kandula Durgesh, Gottipati Ravi Kumar, and BC Janardhan Reddy, along with Chief Secretary Sai Prasad and the Secretaries of the Industries, IT, and I&I departments, attended the SIPB meeting.
