CM Chandrababu directs officials to prepare welfare calendar at collectors conference

The second day of the District Collectors' conference, chaired by CM Chandrababu Naidu, began on Friday at the Velagapudi Secretariat. During the meeting, the CM made significant remarks regarding the implementation of welfare schemes. He directed the District Collectors to prepare a 'welfare calendar,' instructing them to clearly specify which welfare schemes would be provided and on what dates. He also emphasized the need to launch awareness programs to ensure beneficiaries make proper use of the cash benefits received under these welfare schemes.

He called for the preparation of an action plan to add value to traditional occupations and directed that handloom and handicraft centers be transformed into 'experience centers.' He also proposed organizing periodic 'welfare festivals.' Regarding loans from the Kapu Corporation, CM Chandrababu Naidu stated that any unutilized funds should be deployed immediately; he assured the officials that if there was a shortage of funds, they should bring it to his attention, and he would sanction the necessary amounts right away.

He expressed displeasure over the arbitrary allocation of pensions and houses under the guise of 'family mapping,' stating that this approach was incorrect and emphasizing that the government's concept is based on the 'combined family' unit. He clearly instructed the District Collectors to formulate policies that provide greater benefits to larger families.

The CM noted that the Waqf Board possesses vast tracts of land, yet the revenue generated remains meager. He directed officials to work diligently from now on to ensure justice for the minority community, emphasizing that the Minority Department should generate revenue comparable to that of the Endowments Department. He pointed out that the Venkateswara Swamy temple alone generated an income of ₹7 crore in a single day.

The CM explained to those concerned—who had noted the existence of substantial assets—that ways must be found to generate revenue from them. He remarked that the minority community remains weak and urged officials to work earnestly and ensure justice for them from now on.
