Machilipatnam: Former Minister Perni Nani has cautioned IAS and IPS officers against becoming scapegoats for what he described as the ‘wrongful decisions’ of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and Minister Nara Lokesh, alleging that the government was attempting to shift the blame for irregularities in the DSC recruitment process onto officials. Speaking to the media after a Krishna district YSRCP extended meeting in Machilipatnam on Friday, Nani questioned why officials were being targeted while those responsible for issuing controversial government orders and producing allegedly fake sports certificates were being protected. “Is your son blameless? Are those, who sold jobs and those, who produced fake certificates, blameless? Are IAS officers alone responsible?” he questioned Chandrababu Naidu.

Nani recalled that soon after assuming office, the Chief Minister had instructed Collectors to practise ‘political governance’. He said it was unfair for the Chief Minister to issue what he termed wrongful GOs and push the State deeper into debt and later hold officials responsible for the government’s decisions.

He urged district officials, IAS and IPS officers to exercise caution and not to implement unlawful instructions or allow themselves to become scapegoats for political decisions, particularly in connection with the DSC issue.

On the forthcoming local body elections, Nani said the Krishna district meeting was organised on the directions of YSRCP president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy to prepare party leaders and cadre for the electoral battle.

He alleged that the coalition government had failed to sanction even a single new pension during its two years in office and was now showing concern for beneficiaries with municipal elections approaching.

Nani said the YSRCP would expose what he termed the government’s betrayals and unfulfilled promises before the people.

He expressed confidence that the party cadre was prepared to fight the elections and secure victories in all municipalities in Krishna district.
