GEO QUEST 2K26 promotes practical surveying skills

Bhimavaram: Modern surveying technologies, accurate measurements and practical applications are essential for Civil Engineering students, said K Saketh Kumar, Deputy Manager (HR-BP), Megha Engineering Infrastructures Ltd, while addressing the national-level surveying competition “GEO QUEST 2K26 – Vishnu National Surveying Competition” at Vishnu Institute of Technology here on Saturday.

Saketh Kumar, who was the chief guest, said the competition provided an excellent platform for students to develop practical skills and a competitive spirit.

He said creating awareness among students about modern surveying technologies and their field-level applications was a key feature of the event.

The competition was organised by the Civil Engineering Department of Vishnu Institute of Technology in association with the ASCE Student Chapter.

College Principal Dr Mangam Venu said the programme was aimed at enhancing students’ practical knowledge of surveying and enabling them to apply classroom concepts in real-world field conditions.

Guest of honour Dr B Vijaya Kumar, Executive Engineer, Narasapuram Division, said the competition featured practical activities including distance measurement by pacing, differential levelling, construction stakeout, building layout and earthwork excavation. Civil Engineering Department Head and Convener Dr K Vijay said 20 teams from colleges across the country participated in the competition. Vice-Principal Prof M Srilakshmi, faculty coordinators Dr N Tagore Sai Priya, BDV Prasad and P Fayaz, deans, department heads, faculty members, supporting staff and students participated in the programme. Dr K Vijay thanked the management of Shri Vishnu Educational Society, the Principal and Vice-Principal for their support in organising the competition.
