Vijayawada: Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Krishna Kanth Patel has warned that criminal action would be initiated against anyone violating the prohibitory orders in force in Vijayawada. The warning comes ahead of the YSR Congress Party’s proposed protest programmes on September 21 against alleged irregularities in the Mega DSC 2025 recruitment. The proposed rally route is from Sikhamani Centre to the Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh (SAAP) at the Indira Gandhi Municipal Corporation (IGMC) Stadium on MG Road (Bandar Road) in Vijayawada.
Addressing a press conference here, DCP Patel said prohibitory orders under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) and Section 30 of the Police Act were in force in the city. He said the restrictions were being enforced in view of Ganesh idol immersion programmes, processions, traffic diversions and the shortage of police personnel. He appealed to political leaders, party activists and the public to maintain peace and cooperate with the police by adhering to law-and-order and traffic regulations.
The DCP reiterated that violations of the orders would invite appropriate legal action. Central Zone ACP K Damodar Rao and Inspectors Pavan Kishore, Chandrasekhar, Ramesh, Chavan and Muralikrishna, among others, were present.
