Interstate burglary gang busted in Chittoor, five arrested

Chittoor: Police have busted an interstate burglary gang with the arrest of five persons and recovered gold and silver ornaments and three two-wheelers valued at nearly Rs 90 lakh.
The gang is allegedly involved in four burglary cases reported in different parts of Chittoor district.
Chittoor DSP J Venkata Narayana said on Sunday that the accused were apprehended near Deenabandhapuram on Saturday following credible information.
Police said the gang had targeted properties in Kalluru, Palasamudram, Gangadhara Nellore and Thavanampalle mandals.
The breakthrough came during the investigation into the burglary at Sri Krishna Jewellery on Punganur Road in Kalluru on July 17. The burglars allegedly broke open the locks of the jewellery shop and escaped with around 314 grams of gold and 20 kg of silver ornaments.
Following the incident, special police teams were formed under the supervision of Kalluru CI M Jayaramayya and SI U Venkateswarlu. Investigators analysed CCTV footage, gathered technical evidence and collected field-level information to identify and track the suspects.
The arrested persons were identified as R Dinesh (25), Balayya Chiranjeevi (34), SU Jagan (19), S Vasanth Kumar (19), and D Silambarasan (19). Dinesh, considered the main accused, has 18 theft cases registered against him, while Chiranjeevi is facing four cases, including a murder case registered in Puttur.
The remaining accused are from Tiruvallur district in Tamil Nadu and Chittoor district.
During questioning, the accused reportedly confessed to their involvement in all four burglary cases. Police said they had disposed of a portion of the stolen gold and silver in Vellore and Chennai and used the proceeds for personal expenses and luxury. The police recovered approximately 404 grams of gold, 17 kg of silver articles and three two-wheelers from the accused. District SP Tushar Dudi appreciated the police and crime teams for tracing the gang.
