Jagan consoles Rapthadu victim, seeks Rs 50 lakh aid
Bengaluru: YSRCP president Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy on Monday consoled the family of the schoolgirl who was brutally attacked at Rapthadu and demanded Rs 50 lakh compensation from the government.
Speaking to the media after visiting the injured girl at a hospital here, Jagan said the government should take responsibility for the incident and provide financial assistance to the family.
He questioned how the attacker could enter a ZP High School with an electric saw and attack a student, blaming the government’s failure to ensure the safety of women and children.
He alleged that the easy availability of liquor and ganja across the State was contributing to such crimes. Pointing out that the victim’s uncle was a YSRCP mandal convenor, he alleged that the incident reflected the ruling government’s ‘Red Book Constitution’ and claimed that it was the ninth such incident in the constituency. Jagan said the party would stand by the girl, who was recovering after undergoing surgery. He warned that if the government failed to pay compensation, the YSRCP would provide it within a month of returning to power.
