Visakhapatnam: Ban on alcohol would be implemented in a phased manner, said Tourism Minister Muttamsetti Srinivasa Rao here on Friday. Addressing a press conference here, he said that currently 1,130 staff members were employed at liquor shops. At present there are 297 wine shops running in the district and 24 wine shops are to be set up.
He said about 50 people were arrested in Ankapalle as they were selling unauthorised liquor. The Minister said that they would increase surveillance with the help of women police, who seized 21,000 kg of marijuana in the past four months.
