Railway dept. cancels several express trains along Visakha and Kirandul route amid rains

A deep depression prevails over the west-central and northwest Bay of Bengal. The system has been moving at a speed of 7 kmph during the past six hours. It is currently 150 km from Gopalpur, 100 km from Kalingapatnam, 220 km from Puri (Odisha) and 180 km from Visakhapatnam. It is likely to cross the coast between Visakhapatnam and Gopalpur as a deep depression tonight. Widespread rainfall is expected today and Thursday due to this system. Authorities have advised the public to be prepared in the wake of the predicted extremely heavy rains.

The Railway Department has made a crucial decision in anticipation of heavy rains which would hit North Andhra region. It announced that the Visakhapatnam-Kirandul-Visakhapatnam Express (18515/18516) will stand cancelled. The train from Visakhapatnam to Kirandul on Wednesday (18515) cancelled and similarly the return service from Kirandul to Visakhapatnam for Thursday (18516) also cancelled. Railway officials have advised the passengers to take note of this information. Authorities have advised that the passengers should check the latest updates about the train before planning their journeys.

Meanwhile, officials have issued alert to the residents in the Agency areas of Alluri Sitarama Raju and Parvathipuram Manyam districts in North Andhra region. They warned that landslides may take place on the ghat roads due to heavy rains along with the depression. Restrictions have been imposed on the movement of heavy vehicles at night. The residents staying on hill slopes have been advised to stay extra careful and the public has been asked to be cautious due to the streams and rivulets overflowing.
