Bhimavaram: Students of the Mechanical Engineering Department of Sagi Ramakrishnu Raju Engineering College (SRKR), Bhimavaram, secured first place in the Vignan Grand Prix National-level Go-Kart Championship and won a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh.
The competition was held from September 30 to October 3 at the Vignan Institute of Information Technology campus at Duvvada near Visakhapatnam. The SRKR team, representing the department’s Automotive Club, emerged overall winners and also secured top positions in 10 different categories.
Speaking at a felicitation programme organised at the college on Thursday, SRKR Secretary and Correspondent Sagi Ramakrishna Nishanth Varma congratulated the students for their outstanding performance.
College Director Dr KM Jagapathi Raju and Principal Dr KV Murali Krishna Raju said the Mechanical Engineering students had designed and developed their own automobile vehicle and were regularly testing and improving it through the Automotive Club.
The Mechanical Engineering in-charge Head Dr S Rajesh, along with faculty members VV Murali Krishna Raju, M Sudheer Kumar and U Rajendra Prasad Varma, and Go-Kart driver Y Hari, captain Yuvi and other team members, said 31 students participated in the event.
