World elephant day celebrations were held in SV Zoological Park in Tirupati on Monday with the main objective of conserving and protecting elephants from the numerous threats they face.
Tirupati: World elephant day celebrations were held in SV Zoological Park in Tirupati on Monday with the main objective of conserving and protecting elephants from the numerous threats they face.
The day was being celebrated since 2012 on August 12 every year dedicating the day to the huge animal protection and preservation. The day was marked with awareness rally on elephant conservation at SV Zoological park.
Planting activities involving visitors to the Zoo were also taken up and competitions to children were held followed by prize distribution. Short films and documentaries on elephant conservation in the Zoo were also screened, said the Zoo Curator M Babitha. Students of various schools have visited the Zoo on the occasion.
