Karnataka Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President B.Y. Vijayendra
Bengaluru: Karnataka Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President B.Y. Vijayendra said on Saturday that the party will launch a month-long "Seva Sankalp Abhiyan" from September 17 to October 17 in the state to mark Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 25 years of public service.
Addressing a press conference at the State BJP headquarters Jagannath Bhavan in Bengaluru, Vijayendra added that the campaign would be held following the request of BJP President Nitin Nabin.
He said that 12 different programmes would be organised as part of the campaign, including events at every booth and activities across households in the state.
"An "Ashirvada Deepa" programme would also be held as part of the campaign. Under the "Bharatada Kanasu" (India's Dream) programme, painting and speech competitions would be organised for students."
A "NaMo Seva Street Play" programme would also be held to highlight the transformation of the country, Vijayendra added.
He said an "Anganwadi Milan" programme would also be organised, while the "Badalavaneya Kathe" (Story of Change) programme would highlight various schemes introduced under PM Modi and their impact on beneficiaries.
He said a "Viksit Bharat Sankalpa Yatra" and a "Seva Jyothi Yatra" would also be organised as part of the nationwide campaign.
A special yatra carrying sacred water from rivers across the country to Varanasi would also be held, Vijayendra added.
He said the eighth programme, "Seveye Nanna Koduge" (Service is My Contribution), would include 25 service-oriented activities such as blood donation camps, tree plantation drives, cleanliness programmes, health camps, plastic awareness campaigns and cyber security awareness programmes.
Through the "Seva Setu Abhiyan", information about various welfare schemes of the Union government would be provided to people and eligible beneficiaries would be assisted in registering for the schemes, the State BJP President added.
"Another programme, "Rangoli Rashtra", would also be organised. In Bengaluru, a "National Innovation Challenge" would be held, allowing students, IT professionals and start-up entrepreneurs to participate," Vijayendra said.
"The 12th programme, "Jana Sevak Mahakumbha", would involve elected representatives from the panchayat level to Members of Parliament," he added.
Vijayendra said a mass singing programme of "Vande Mataram" would also be organised, with around 1.25 lakh elected representatives expected to participate and sing all the stanzas of the national song.
He claimed that the programme would aim to create a world record.
Vijayendra praised PM Modi's tenure, saying the Prime Minister had provided a "clean and corruption-free" administration without facing any corruption allegations.
"Narendra Modiji has provided clean governance without a single allegation of corruption and has worked towards the overall development of the country," he said, adding that PM Modi had remained committed to India's development with the spirit of being the "people's first servant" without taking a day's rest.
Vijayendra said a team had been formed to ensure the success of the campaign, comprising State BJP General Secretary N.S. Nandish Reddy, former Deputy Chief Minister C.N. Ashwath Narayan, BJP Yuva Morcha State President and MLA Dheeraj Muniraju, MLA Shailendra Beldale and other senior leaders.
Separate teams have also been formed at the district and Assembly constituency levels to oversee and implement the various programmes, he added.
Legislative Council Opposition Chief Whip N. Ravikumar, BJP state general secretaries N.S. Nandish Reddy and Preetham Gowda, Yuva Morcha state president and MLA Dheeraj Muniraju, and former MLA M.D. Lakshminarayana were present at the press conference.
