Yash is currently making headlines following the disappointing theatrical run of Toxic. Although Yash gave his best on the big screens, the weak storyline made the movie fail at the ticket windows. Being a Geetu Mohandas directorial, most of them blamed her for the raw plot and repetitive action sequences. But Yash’s screen presence was applauded by the critics too. Thus, Toxic didn’t damage his acting career. But it made him pay as a producer.
It is all known that even Tollywood’s ace producer Dil Raju paid 80 crores for the Telugu theatrical rights. Most of them expected that Dil Raju would face a huge financial loss with Toxic. As, KVN just holds less than half of the share in Toxic and the remaining majority share is owned by Yash. So, Dil Raju managed to make the actor sign the document that holds a safety clause to buy the movie rights on the returnable basis. So, if the movie faces a backlash, then Dil Raju’s money will be given back within 45 days.
This way Yash faced a huge loss as a producer with Toxic. And now, coming to his next movie Ramayana, Yash is essaying the deadly Ravana role in this most-awaited mythological movie. As Ramayana is also being made with a whopping budget of 4000 crores, Yash has reportedly taken a distribution deal for the entire South India market.
Some of them are expecting it to be a risky move as he experienced the same with Toxic too. However, Ramayana is a completely different proposition from Toxic, given its massive scale, star cast and the familiarity of the epic among Indian audiences. As it is the mythological tale that’s been heard in every household since ages, no one is expecting a negative feed back on the movie.
Already Ramayana trailer elevated Yash’s character and raised the expectations on the movie. As of now, Yash is all happy with his strategy and has complete confidence on Ramayana movie.
This Nitish Tiwari’s directorial will hit the big screens on 6th November, 2026 on the occasion of Diwali festival.
