EUFF 2026 announces jury for short film -competition
The European Union Film Festival (EUFF) 2026 has announced the impressive international panel of jurors for its short film competition debut, The EUFF Film Project. The competition will give new filmmakers a platform to share their fresh perspectives.
The panel consists of five well-established individuals from the film industry, including Aranya Sahay and Nancy Nisa Beso (filmmakers from India), Sucharita Tyagi (film critic), Marek Brodzki (film director from Poland) and Gregory Coutaut (film critic and programmer from France). The panel members have experience in film making, international film, screenwriting, film criticism and film festivals.
The EUFF Film Project began in September and invited young filmmakers to submit their finished short films that explore themes of self-identity and belonging, migration and diaspora, language and cultural memory, women’s stories, queer stories, climate change and indigenous communities. The competition invited entries from all film genres including fiction, documentary, animation and hybrid. The top 10 finalists will get exclusive screenings at the festival in Delhi. The winning filmmaker will be awarded the EUFF Film Project Award 2026. They will also be given a fully funded place at the 15th edition of Script Fiesta, a screenwriting festival, in Warsaw, Poland from March 17-21, 2027.
Aranya Sahay, who has previously made her debut feature Humans in the Loop in 2024 which explored themes of AI, labour and algorithmic bias from an Adivasi woman’s perspective, will bring her social-conscious approach to filmmaking. She has a background in education from St. Stephen’s College and the Film and Television Institute of India, Pune.
Nancy Nisa Beso is an experienced producer and creative entrepreneur who has worked on over 200 projects in both India and the UK. These include films, television, documentaries and digital content. She has experience in creative development, funding and international production. Sucharita Tyagi has over 2 decades of experience working in broadcast, digital and international film festivals. She is known for being an independent film critic and giving honest interviews.
Marek Brodzki is an experienced Polish filmmaker who has been working in the industry since 1984. He has worked with world-renowned directors such as Steven Spielberg, Andrzej Wajda and Roman Polański. He is also known for directing The Witcher film and TV series. Gregory Coutaut is a French critic and programmer who set-up Le Polyester, an international arthouse cinema magazine, in 2017. He has experience in selecting short films at Cannes Critics’ Week and Directors’ Fortnight.
The 31st edition of EUFF will run from November 12-18 in Shillong, followed by New Delhi (November 25-December 4) and finally Pune. There will be 28 films from member states within the European Union and Ukraine. All films will be shown in 30 different languages. All films will be subtitled in English. Tickets will be available on a first come first served basis.
This initiative will continue to promote cultural exchange, new talent and diversity within the film industry.
