Students take part in international university squash championship

Students from Somaiya Vidyavihar University represented India at the FISU World University Squash Championship, taking part in an international university-level sporting event. The participation formed part of the university’s wider student engagement in sports, with students receiving opportunities to train and compete at district, state, national and international levels. The university offers training across 22 sports, with more than 10,000 students participating in sporting activities and over 3,500 representing the institution at different competitive levels.
The FISU World University Squash Championship brings together university athletes from different countries, providing students with an opportunity to compete in an international setting alongside their academic pursuits.
The university has also reported student participation in other national and international competitions through its sports programmes. Such participation gives students exposure to competitive environments and allows them to develop skills related to preparation, teamwork, discipline and managing performance under pressure. For university students, international competitions can also provide experience of interacting with participants from different institutions and countries. These experiences can complement classroom learning by giving students opportunities to apply skills such as communication, adaptability and teamwork in settings beyond their regular academic environment.
