Bengaluru: Primary and Secondary Education Minister Suresh Kumar has assured that the passages in a lesson in the Social Sciences textbook of class six that have reportedly hurt the sentiments of Brahmins would be dropped.

The public education department has been directed to drop the offending text in lesson 7 of Social Science Part I of Class VI.

The minister stated that no textbooks were revised or lessons added after the BJP government came to power.

The Karnataka Textbook Association was asked to submit a report to the Commissioner of Public Education Department on the matter.

"The Mantralaya Sreekshetra Swamiji telephoned me and expressed the sentiments of the Brahmin community. I am hereby telling everyone that action will be taken to correct the blunder which has been committed so long ago, but now it has come to light," the minister said.
